Online application to HS schools begins

The process of applying for admission to Class XI in higher secondary schools (HSS) affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has begun online. Students can apply through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. The deadline for submitting applications is June 20.

On the first day, more than 40,000 students registered for admission in different HSS, and close to 25,000 students have paid their fees online so far. An officer from the school and mass education department stated that the response from students on the first day has been encouraging. Students are allowed to choose a minimum of five HSS options, with no limit on the number of choices. Students will be allocated a seat in their preferred school.

There are approximately 500,000 seats available in 2,109 HS schools across the state. With a 96% pass rate in the Class X High School Certificate (HSC) examination this year, students may face tough competition to secure admission to their desired college. This year, admissions will be conducted for 13,468 seats in 106 schools that have been upgraded from high school to higher secondary schools.

However, the school and mass education department has announced that seats will be increased in HSS if necessary.

The first selection list will be announced on June 28, and admission to the first list will take place on June 29.

The admission process is expected to be completed by July 27, and classes for the new session will commence on July 29.
